Using a treadmill is a great way to stay in shape and healthy or improve your athletic performances. You can train at home at any time during the day, no matter the weather!
Are you ready to buy a treadmill but don't know which one to get? Follow the guide!
You should choose your treadmill depending on your fitness goals: getting/staying in shape, weight loss, improving athletic performances.
There are three criteria to consider: performance (speed, horsepower, incline, etc.), comfort and features.
The first criteria to consider when choosing a treadmill is the maximum speed. Your needs will vary depending on whether you plan to walk at 6 km/h or run faster than 14km/h (i.e., stay in shape versus improve your performances). We suggest choosing a model with a faster maximum speed than your average speed to improve your fitness level. Don't forget that the incline feature lets you change up your workout and burn more calories (weight loss).
Your treadmill should be suitable for your size and stride. The faster you go and the longer your stride, the wider and longer the deck will need to be. Also remember to try out different cushioning systems to find the level of comfort you need.
Different treadmills offer different features. Training programmes (weight loss, performance development, etc.) will help you change up your workouts. To track your progress and check your heart rate in real-time, you can choose between two types of heart rate monitors: the hand pulse grip system, or the more accurate chest strap system. Know that compatible applications for certain treadmills can give you a customised workout depending on your physical ability and goals. Enjoy having a real coach at home!
