Ah, spring break. It’s the best time of year to kick back, hang with friends, and enjoy the onset of what will eventually evolve into an everlasting summer. One of my favorite spring break activities is heading out to the shores to catch the best surf I can.

Nicaragua is always on the top of surfer spring break destinations for good reason. The waters are warm and the swells seem to increase in southern zones as spring moves forward. The best part is, you get all-day offshore winds in many Nicaraguan destinations, allowing you to party all night, sleep in, and still catch some waves in the afternoon.
Lagos has some of the warmest waters in Europe during springtime. The conditions are incredibly versatile, allowing both beginners and experts to enjoy the water in certain spots. Not only do you get great surf in Lagos any time of year, you also get to meet lovely locals and party in the surrounding towns.
Cabo and spring break go hand in hand like peanut butter and jelly. If you’re looking to meet cool, young people and party the nights away, Cabo is the premier destination. For surfers, it provides some of the best waves along the coastline of the country. With warm waters and gorgeous March swells, it’s a surefire spring break success for shredders everywhere.
If you’re looking for a mellow surf destination frequented by nomadic watermen and women all over the world, Covelong Surf and Turf is a must-visit. As one of the first surfing villages in India, Surf and Turf brings together the laid-back surf culture with the colorful culture of India, bringing you something completely unique and inspiring. With an awesome surf school and beautiful blue waters, it is a must-see for adventurous surfers.
San Diego is easily one of the top surfing cities on the west coast of the United States. With young and old surfing crowds, a massive downtown areas with more breweries than you can count, and a sunny climate all-year round, it is a true surfers paradise. From La Jolla shores to Black’s, there are tons of places to explore both northern and southern swells. San Diego is also the birthplace of many of our favorite surfboard companies!
The Canary Islands is one of the sunniest spots in Europe with some of the warmest waters throughout the year. When you’re done surfing some of the stunning local breaks, you can explore the volcanic plains and trek throughout the colorful city. Canary Islands is a great place for spring breakers who are seeking a quieter escape from the norm.
Ask any Australian surfer what their favorite surf destination is and they’ll probably tell you Bali. With awe-inspiring landscapes and some of the longest beaches in the world, it’s difficult to imagine a better place for surfing. While the initial flight may cost you a bit, the best part about Bali is that it is incredibly cheap to stay. There are too many great surf spots in Bali to mention, so we recommend checking out this list here.
If you’re an East Coast surfer, you’ve likely made your way down to Puerto Rico during your spring break. For those who haven’t checked it out, you’re missing out on the northeast Atlantic swells that frequent the island during the beginning of spring. Head to Rincon and you can spend time with the laid-back crowds of ex-pats and nomad surfers in the area.
Oahu is one of the magical places in Hawaii. Thanks to the vibrant culture and beautiful waters, there is constant influx of the world’s most prominent surfers. If you choose to spend your spring break here, you will no doubt come back feeling more rejuvenated than you may have ever believed possible. With unreal breaks and party-packed beaches, Oahu is spring break heaven.
When people think of surfing, Texas isn’t typically one of the first places to come to mind. That is because so many people forget that Texas borders the Gulf Coast, a particular which has some of the most powerful waves that side of the continent. For midwesterners and southerners alike, South Padre Island provides a cheaper way to spend spring break while still catching some out-of-this-world waves. Be sure to grab some Tex Mex!
