Like everybody else, I started Cycling in childhood but eventually, I started to ride with a purpose. Right after I'd finished school and was looking forward to my graduation, I had a few months of free time in between which I wanted to utilize by doing something for my fitness. I started with running for about a month post which I wasn't enjoying it as much. At the same time, I bought a cycle for myself for commuting. I decided to go on morning rides starting from 10-20km and gradually moved up to 50-60km. I really enjoyed riding my bike and exploring new places along with being fit.
I realized that this is something I can do all the time and took up cycling as a regular sport.
When I saw a Road Bike for the very first time, I decided that I would like to own that bike one day. Its slim tyres and lean aero design, what a piece of beauty! It took me 6 long months to convince my parents to let me have one. Finally, I got the Triban 540. I sat on it and never looked back since then.
My first long ride was from Gurgaon to Aligarh (Uttar Pradesh) for 150kms which I undertook in the quest of adventure and thrill. I started early in the morning at 6 am on a cold December morning. Starting with crowded cities like Gurgaon, Delhi and then Noida, I was finally able to enter the peaceful fields of Uttar Pradesh. The experience of riding on both the highways and the rural streets was crazy.
The feeling is absolutely amazing. For the period that I am riding, I am able to leave behind any kind of tension or stress and enter into a peaceful state of mind. I like to live in the moment and enjoy the surroundings.
However, it's different when I'm practicing for my races. I am very focused and determined with certain set goals and continuously pushing my limits with each pedal to become better every single second.
Just put yourself out there and express yourself on your bike. It will take you to new places, make you meet new people and give you much more toward an amazing life.
My key message is "Just Cycle It Out For A Better Environment".
One of my best experience is a recent experience on a cycling tour in Rajasthan. I was riding from Chittorgarh to Ajmer. It was afternoon 12 noon, the sun shining with its full potential and I had already cycled continuously for about 110kms. Suddenly, I saw a man waving out to me on the roadside. I stopped to talk to him. I was surprised to find out that he was one of the subscribers of my youtube channel "Cycling Prince" where I post all of my cycling videos.
He gave me a box of sweets as a gift. I was quite speechless, I have no words to express how I was feeling. I totally enjoyed that moment. His love as a viewer got me a lot more motivated to keep going.
